Cholesterol and Your Body
Cholesterol is a type of fat that travels to every part of your body in your bloodstream. It's in every cell of your body, and every cell needs it to hold them together. It is literally the human glue that holds you together - without it you would simply fall apart!
It is needed to make bile so you can digest and absorb fats, and to make vitamin D so you can have strong bones. You need it to make your sex hormones (without it where would the fun be?) and to make hormones that are important for both your immune system and for handling stress. Even your brain needs a certain amount of cholesterol to work properly!
You could say that cholesterol is a lot like a relationship - you can't live with it, can't live without it. And just like any relationship, you need to pay attention to it or things can go from good to bad very quickly.
